55. Black and white is a forgiving medium.

54. Sometimes the temperature will drop 50 degrees in 3 hours, it will start sleeting, you have to finish the opening scene, and it’s the last evening with your big name actor.

Keep shooting. The sleet adds production value.

53. Edit what you direct at the risk of losing objectivity.

The writer/director/editor position is frowned upon professionally, so I’ve learned.  Producers will be afraid that you can’t edit objectively, and it may be true.  An editor is paid to pull together the best story.  If you’re not an editor, don’t even think about trying to put together your feature as a learning experience as it...
